1. Your first/earliest visual memory?
I remember closing my eyes and watching the color of my eyelids changing when light hit them.
2. What or who inspired you as a kid?
My inspirations as a kid were delicious candy, spooky skeletons, and simple shapes. These elements all have come together to create a large part of the visual vocabulary I use in my work to this day.
3. An early poignant art making moment/experience?
In preschool I was taught how to draw skeletons. I became very fascinated with them after that. I loved that we all have such a complex structure inside of us.
4. How would you describe your style and approach to your work?
I use soothing colors, smooth brushstrokes, and simple shape configuration to create whimsical characters. Characters who are very curious and always exploring each other and the environments they inhabit.
5. Message for mini budding artists
Create art that interests you and don’t worry about what anyone else will think about it. If you are true to your own vision you will be much happier with what you produce.
